Tom Cashman
Jack Gorsuch (who co-founded the Pacific Jubilee Program in 1988) was my spiritual director and he encouraged me to enter the program. So, I was in the first cohort and completed my spiritual direction training in 1989. Contemplative Prayer, which has become a life-changing spiritual practice, was new to me. A number of life-long friendships resulted from those classmates and overall, it was a life-changing experience.
My wife Lin, who is also a spiritual director, and I live in DesMoines, Washington. We have four adult children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. In 2012, I retired as adjunct professor from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology where I taught Spiritual Formation and Celtic Spirituality for nine years. Seattle University recruited me for Spiritual Coach staff as they began formation of the Pastoral Leadership Program. I served in that capacity for five years.
My approach to spiritual direction is influenced by my immersion in Celtic Spirituality and four pilgrimages to the Celtic “Holy Lands”. For two of these pilgramages I was the leader.
