Kerry Howarth

My name is Kerry Howarth and I'm an Anam Cara, a soul friend - one who accompanies another as they seek to deepen their relationship with themselves and God, the Divine, the Source of All, or however they name it. In Celtic tradition "soul friends” are considered an essential part of exploring and deepening one's spiritual life.

Earlier in my life I served 26 years in the Canadian Military, married and had two children. Over the past 35 years I have worked closely with clergy and clergy-in-training through my involvement with church organizations and the Education and Students Committee of Prince Edward Island Presbytery in the Maritime Conference of the United Church of Canada.  I am currently chairing the Lay Supervision Team for our student minister in my own pastoral charge and am a Licensed Lay Worship Leader. I practice Centering Prayer and Kundalini Yoga. A few years ago, I certified as a Healing Pathway practitioner but because of COVID-19 have not had the opportunity to practice it as yet. I am drawn to the contemplative way, nature and Celtic spirituality, having recently returned from a pilgrimage to Iona, Scotland.

At the core of my desire to offer spiritual companioning is a call to help people explore the Divine mystery, and to deepen and live into their own spiritual identity. I have a passion for walking with those who are discerning their spirituality and God’s call on their lives.

I have satisfactorily completed Phase 1 of the Contemplative Pathways program in the Maritimes and Phase 2 of the Ontario Jubilee program and am a member of Spiritual Directors International. My service is called Still Silence Spiritual Accompaniment and is offered via teleconferencing and in-person.

“Thoughts are our inner senses. Infused with silence and solitude, they bring out the mystery of inner landscape.”— John O'Donohue
