Wisdom for Times Like These

Online with Lois Huey-Heck and Murray Groom
Three Wednesdays: May 7, 14, 21, 2025
6:30 – 7:30 pm Pacific time
(followed by an optional guided conversation from 7:30 to 8:15 pm Pacific time)

We live in a time of great unsettledness with threats that can evoke fear, anger, denial, and deep sorrow. In times like these, where divisiveness is intentionally sown, we need connection with kindred souls. We need encouragement to love our neighbours as ourselves and love the Holy with all our heart and mind. We seek a long view which is found in the wisdom of Earth, Indigenous peoples, saints, sages, mystics, and prophets. Our connection to Spirit is essential. From across time, space, and tradition, a wealth of wisdom is available to us. Let’s keep company with this!

You are invited to three evening gatherings. We will come together in the spirit of Sacred Pause where inspiration and sustenance – ancient and new – will be our companions. Come and engage in wisdom teachings, spiritual practices, silence, prayer, sound, and image.

You are welcome to stay on afterwards from 7:30 to 8:15 pm for a guided conversation on the themes of the evening.

Ages: 18+
The cost for three sessions via Zoom is $107

Lois Huey-Heck

has been living with sleep-interrupting questions about life, death, and the mystery of a cosmos-without-end since elementary school. She says, “In this season, it’s the fragility of Earth and human communities that’s keeping me up at night. I have so much grief for the Earth herself and for the most vulnerable of Creation, which is most of us now. Offering “Wisdom for Times Like These” is my response to a personal need to dive deeply into fear, sorrow, and anger where I encounter a living Wisdom that is equal to the precariousness of our times. I am committed to find and co-create communities that are Love in a world that needs wisdom, faith, realism, and resilience now more than ever.”

Lois was with Wood Lake Publishing for 29 years. She was a program mentor in the Pacific Jubilee SoulGuiding program and was director of spiritual nurture at Naramata Centre. Lois offers spiritual accompaniment to her household that ranges in age from five to 82. She also offers individual spiritual direction and online retreat leadership — all in the hope of wholeness.
