Heart Work: Working with the Defence Mechanisms of the Enneagram

IN-PERSON/ONLINE with Dale Bially

Tuesday evenings: February 18, March 18, April 22, May 20, June 17, 2025

“For anyone looking to reconnect to their hearts.”

We all come in to this world with unique gifts and equally unique ways of uncovering them.  The compulsions of my enneagram space helps me see where my patterned behaviour is, but what about my work on meeting my heart?

Defence mechanisms are shock absorbers, that protect us from the big reactions we meet as we live our lives. They are coping strategies we’ve created that smooth out our experiences of anxiety, shame, anger, sadness, and many others.

Over five evenings we will shine a light on those times where our unique defence pattern helps us skip over our hearts. In doing so, we create inauthentic responses to the people we love, and also cutting us off from opportunities to grow.

This group is for anyone with:

  • A basic understanding of the enneagram

  • A desire to learn about their patterns of avoidance

  • A need to be with like-minded people

  • A wish to grow

This event is offered through the Inscapes Centre for Enneagram Studies

The cost for this event is $60 + GST Fee for each session. Discounts are available for those in need. Please contact Dale to find out more.

Dale Bially has worked extensively with the enneagram in his professional and personal life since 1993. Under the guidance of my mentors Carol Ann Gotch and David Walsh (students of Bob Ochs), he completed the Enntrain: Inspirited and Embodied Enneagram training program in 2012 and began teaching workshops and study groups with Inscapes Centre for Enneagram Studies. In 2012 he began working with the leadership team of Prairie Jubilee, to train spiritual directors and help other seekers find the truth of whom they are and how to live differently making our world a better place.
